Department History

The department of geography came into existence on 01-07-1972, Shri. N. C. Shaikh was appointed as Lecturer in Geography. Shri Kitturmath appointed as part time lecturer in 1973-74 and Shri A.S. Bidikar joined the department on july 1974.With the increase of students strength two more lecturers viz. Shri. S. M. Hurkadli and Shri. C. N. Mattimani were appointed. Both completed their Doctorate Degree in 1992 and 1994 respectively.

On 31-03-1999 with the superannuation of Prof. N. C. Shaikh, Prof. A. S. Bidikar took charge as the head of the department. Shri. H. B. Neelagund was appointed as a lecturer in Geography on 03-05-1999. He was selected for FIP under UGC Scheme for Ph.D During that period. Smt. Deena Malekar and Shri. S. S. Sannushiddanavar worked as a part time Lecturers in Geography.

Dr. A. S. Bidikar retired on December 2012. Hence Shri C. J. Mathapati appointed as Guest Lecturer. Dr. H. B. Neelagund took over the charge as the In- charge Principal of the college on 8th January 2015. Miss. P. F. Naragund appointed as Guest Lecturer of Geography. After Shri. C. J. Mathapati Sir, Shri. Seril Mathapathi Sir, Miss. Parvati Mam and Shri. Basalingayya Sir Joined the department. Then Miss. Neha Nayak And Miss. Lalita Patil Joined the department as a guest faculty. After them Mr. Chetan Hipparagi, Miss. Annapoorneshwari Garag Joined the department. And this year of 2023 Mr. Shridhar Morabad And Mr. Arpit Garag Joined the department as a guest faculty.
